History

The Yerbabuena Hacienda, is named after the village of the same name in the municipality of Chia (Cundinamarca). Under the stillness and scenery of this place was formed the literary personality of Mr. Jose Manuel Marroquin, a Colombian writer, statesman and President of the country from 1900 to 1904.

illustrious persons and times transpired under the cherry, eucalyptus and willow tree lined avenues. In 1861 the greatest American commander of the time,
General Tomas Cipriano de Mosquera, occupied with his men the Hacienda at the time when the Granadina Confederation was expiring. Those memorial days were not all peaceful. In 1854, 1861 and 1876 during the civil war the Hacienda was seized and looted of its livestock and pack animals.

Township of Yerbabuena
was designed and built by farm laborers of the plains more than 300 years ago. It was done completely with a colonial touch for the purpose to serve as a logistic support to the main house of the Presidents and illustrious hosts of the Republic and the old "Yerbabuena Hacienda".

the
Township of Yerbabuena has been conditioned by its administrators, the Martinez Gallegos, one of the most illustrious families of Colombian history, and the close supervision of architects, engineers, historians and prestigious curators, into a world level Convention Center. Which along with the hacienda has been rightly named a Cultural Heritage.
